Details & Specifications

This 1981 1 oz Silver US Assay Office US Strategic Stockpile Silver round was minted by the Continental Coin company of California, from silver purchased from the U.S. government from Treasury reserves. After the U.S. Mint stopped using silver in circulating coinage, the government would sell portions of its silver reserves to the public in order to stabilize the market.

The obverse features an American Bald Eagle in front of the U.S. flag, flanked by olive branches. The legend above the eagle says "One Troy Ounce 31.1 Grams" and the legend below says ".999 Fine Silver Silver Trade Unit"

The center of the reverse declares "Formerly Stored at U.S. Assay Office San Francisco" with the CC logo of Continental Coin beneath. Around the border is the legend "Minted From U.S. Strategic Stockpile Silver" and the date 1981 flanked by three stars to each side.
