Details & Specifications

The Royal Canadian Mint is widely-known for its "four nines" purity silver bullion coins. The Canadian Grizzly Bear, like all other Wildlife Series coins, is struck from 1 troy ounce of .9999 fine silver. Minted in 2011, the Grizzly Bear was the second of six coins in the series. The coins were issued twice a year over a three-year period spanning from 2010-2013.

The Grizzly Bear carries a Canadian legal tender of $5, issued and backed by the Canadian government. Each of the Wildlife Series coins were limited to a mintage of 1 million, and are sought after for their fine silver content and collectable design. The majority of the world's Grizzly Bear population resides in Canada, home to about 25,000 of the species.

On the obverse of the coin is the traditional Queen Elizabeth II portrait, seen on most Canadian coins. The reverse features the coin's namesake, the Canadian Grizzly Bear, letting out a loud roar. The Canadian predator stands in the forefront of an arctic mountainous backdrop.
