In 2006 more than 150,000 citizens voted in a 25-day statewide election of their State Quarter design.  Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman publicly revealed his state’s design at the Golden Spike National Historic Site in Promontory on May 10 of that year, recognizing the anniversary of "The Joining of the Rails."
