The reverse of the Louisa Adams First Spouse coin depicts Louisa and her 8 year old son.  The two had to journey across much of Europe to join John Quincy Adams in peace talks to end the war of 1812. Not only did Louisa manage the family’s affairs but her linguistic talents helped her and her son to find safe passage through unfamiliar dangerous lands.
