An intricate design replicating the Aztec Sun Stone graces the obverse of the 2011 Mexican Aztec Calendar 1 Kilo Silver Proof-like coin.

Front/Obverse

Over 4 inches in diameter is needed to see the detail of the elaborate replication of the Aztec Sun Stone (Calendar Stone). The stone depicts 2 calendars:

  • Xiuhpohualli, 365 day cycle agricultural calendar
  • Tonalpohualli, 260 day cycle sacred calendar

The center of the coin is the Sun God Tonatiuh's face. Around which are a series of four rings. From the center, the rings are:

  1. Four previous sun gods in boxes
  2. 20 named days in a month
  3. Sun Rays, Chalchihuite Ornaments, Splashed Blood Symbols
  4. Dedication plates, herbs with buds, white scrolls, flame sign, Xiucoatl's tail

Around the edge is Caldendario Azteca $100 2011 1 Kilo Plata Pura Ley .999 and the Mexican Mint Mark
