Common Date St. Gaudens $20 Raw CU. Dates are our choice.

This coin is named for famed sculptor and artist Augustus Saint-Gaudens. These coins were commissioned by Theodore Roosevelet who felt existing American coins were "artistically of atrocious hideosness," with respect to the coins of other nations. The $20 St Gaudens were among the last gold coins to be minted by the U.S. government as an official currency. Unlike Liberty gold coins, most St. Gaudens were never used in circulation. By 1907, the first year the St. Gaudens entered circulation, most Americans had already switched to paper transactions. Thus, many of these coins survived in good condition when gold coins were removed from circulation by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1933. Like the $20 Liberty gold coin, the $20 St. Gaudens is also known as the Double Eagle. The coin is comprised of 90% gold and 10% copper. The coin weighs 33.431 grams and has a diameter of 34.1 millimeters. Raw is numismatic slang for an item that hasn't been graded by a grading service. CU gives the general condition of the item, in this case "Commercial Uncirculated."
