Product Details

The 2012 10 oz Silver Year of the Dragon coin was struck from .999 pure silver by the Perth Mint. This coin is part of the world famous Perth Mint Lunar Series II. This series is dedicated to the Chinese Lunar Calendar and the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Zodiac. Years of the Dragon are: 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012. People born under the Dragon's influence are considered to be independent, brave, and passionate. The 2012 10 oz Silver Year of the Dragon coin is guaranteed for its weight, purity, and $10 dollar legal tender by the Government of Australia. This coin has a limited mintage of 300,000 coins from the Perth Mint.

The obverse features an eloquent portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. She is wearing a royal crown and is encircled by the inscriptions, “ELIZABETH II, AUSTRALIA, 10 DOLLARS, 2012, 10OZ 999 SILVER.” Highlighting the reverse is a magnificent silver dragon reaching for the Pearl of Wisdom. This intricately designed dragon is flying in the clouds above the legend, “YEAR OF THE DRAGON.” The Chinese character for dragon and the Perth Mint P mintmark are struck on the reverse.
