The 2012 1 oz Canadian Moose Silver Coin is the 4th of 6 coins in the Royal Canadian Mint’s highly popular Wildlife Silver Bullion Series. The three coins already released in this series include:
- The 2011 dated Grizzly Silver Coin
- The 2011 dated Wolf Silver Coin
- The 2012 dated Cougar Silver Coin
The maximum mintage of the Wildlife Series is 1,000,000 for each animal in the series. The identity of the two remaining animals in the series has not yet been disclosed. The Wildlife Silver Bullion Series is scheduled to run through 2013.
Like other Royal Canadian Mint silver bullion coins, the Canadian Moose Silver Coin is struck from one troy ounce of 99.99% pure silver.

Front/Obverse
The obverse or the front of the 2012 Canadian Moose Silver Bullion Coin features a profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Canadian Mint has used different versions of Queen Elizabeth II since the Mint began producing 1 oz silver bullion coins. The design on the Canadian Moose Silver Coin was designed by Susanna Blunt. Inscriptions on the obverse include “Elizabeth II, 2012, and 5 Dollars.”
Rear/Reverse
The reverse or the rear of the 2012 Canadian Moose Silver Coin shows a vibrant Moose amid native vegetation. The designer of the reverse is Senior Royal Canadian Mint Engraver William Woodruff. Circling the Moose are the inscriptions “CANADA, 9999, FINE SILVER, 1 OZ, ARGENT PUR, and the initials WW for the designer.”

Moose have a vast range, and can be found from Newfoundland to the Pacific Coast. The Moose is the largest land mammal in Canada. An adult moose stands between 4.6 - 6.9 feet high. Male, or bull Moose can weigh between 840-1,500lb.
Packaging
Individual Canadian Moose Silver Coins will come in a two-coin clear, plastic flip. Orders for 25 Canadian Moose will typically be delivered in the Mint roll of 25. Orders for 500 Moose will typically be delivered in the Royal Canadian Mint’s distinctive Monster Box. Unlike its sister coin, the Silver Maple which comes in a yellow Monster Box, coins from the Wildlife Silver Bullion Silver Come in a blue Monster Box. A Monster Box contains 20, 25 coin rolls.
