The obverse of the Red Kangaroo coin displays Ian Rank-Broadley's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The designer's initials are found underneath the Queen's neck, “IRE.” The profile of the Queen is encircled by the legend, “ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA,” above her crown and the monetary denomination of, “1 DOLLAR,” below. On the reverse is the silver proof Red Kangaroo featuring a beautifully colorized background. The inscriptions, “DISCOVER AUSTRALIA,” and, “RED KANGAROO,” are included in the design. The famous Perth Mint “P” mint mark is above the coin's physical properties, “1OZ 999 SILVER.”
