The highlight of this beautiful Gold and Silver Proof Set for the 2000 Sydney Olympics is the Proof Gold $100 Shot Putter Coin from the “Preparation” series of coins. This was the fourth coin in the eight-coin of gold 2000 Olympic coins, featuring the designs of Stuart Devlin, and contains .32 oz of .9999 Fine Gold. The obverse is Ian Rank-Broadley’s profile of Queen Elizabeth II, and the reverse is an Olympic shot putter teaching a group of children about his sport, with the motto “Preparation”.
The silver coins in this box set are the $5 Proof Silver “Reaching the World - Commerce” Olympic Coin, which was the 7th of the 16-coin silver Olympic coin series, and the $5 Proof Silver “Emu and Wattle” Olympic Coin, which was the 8th in the series. Each of these coins contain 1 oz of silver, with designs by Stuart Devlin. These gold and silver 2000 Olympic Proof Sets were a joint venture between the Royal Australian Mint in Canberra and the Perth Mint, and were limited to 10,000 sets. Each coin is individually encapsulated and housed in a green presentation case.
