The Iranian Gold Pahlavi Coin was introduced in 1930, and ended with the overthrow of the last Shah of Iran in 1979. The 2 ½ Pahlavi Gold Coin of Iran contains .5885 oz of Gold and features the profile of one of the two Shahs of Iran on obverse, and the royal seal on reverse. Because the writing on the coins is in Persian script, these coins are not as common in the West as other coins.
