Buy $10 Indian Gold NGC/PCGS MS63 - Random Date

The famous sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens is best known for his design on the $20 Gold Double Eagle, but he also created the design of the $10 Indian Head Gold Eagle coin. Struck from .900 fine gold, these classic U.S. coins have a legal tender face value of 10 Dollars and contain a total of 0.48375 troy ounce of pure gold. Not only will this coin be graded MS63 by one of the two major independent grading services (PCGS or NGC), but it will also be from a random date between 1907 and 1933.

The obverse shows a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a traditional Native American feathered headdress. Her mouth is open, perhaps in a war call, while the year-date is placed below the truncation at the bottom rim. The top rim is lined with thirteen stars representing the original American colonies. The edge is decorated with the number of states in the U.S. at the time the coin was minted.

The reverse design features a bald eagle proudly standing upon a bundle of arrows and an olive branch. The eagle is flanked by the mottoes "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" while the top rim is inscribed with the issuing nation "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." The denomination "TEN DOLLARS" is found at the bottom rim. The coin measures 27 mm in diameter.

The Gold Eagle was not a coin commonly seen during the time it circulated due to its relatively large face value. Many of these coins were also melted down by the U.S. government in the process of confiscating the nation's privately held gold coins from 1933 onward. You can add a fantastic Mint State example of the $10 Indian Head Gold Eagle (NGC/PCGS MS63) that has been graded MS63 by either Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) from Gainesville Coins!
