When adding a considerable amount of silver to your portfolio at once, it often makes sense to buy bullion coins in mint rolls, or plastic tubes, that hold many coins in one place. This is why the Royal Canadian Mint's popular Silver Maple Leaf is available at Gainesville Coins in rolls of 25! Struck from exceptionally pure .9999 fine silver, each coin contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver for a total of 25 oz of silver in each roll. Each coin also bears a legal tender face value of 5 Dollars.
The reverse design of a maple leaf was created in 1979 by artist Walter Ott. The coin gets a cutting-edge finish with its radial line background, which serves an aesthetic purpose as well as an anti-counterfeiting measure. Another security feature, a small maple leaf privy mark, is micro-engraved near the bottom of the design. The weight and composition are inscribed at the bottom rim, reading "FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR." The issuing country "CANADA" runs across the top rim. On either side of the maple leaf, the purity "9999" is inscribed.
On the obverse, the portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II facing right, created by Susanna Blunt, appears at the center of the design. The same radial line finish is used. The Queen's name is boldly inscribed along the top rim while the bottom rim includes the denomination, "5 DOLLARS," and the year of issue, "2017." The edge is reeded. The 25 coins come sealed in plastic tubes from the mint.
While there are a variety of options for buying silver bullion coins, the Silver Maple has remained among the most popular since its introduction more than three decades ago.
