The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has a full line of Maple Leaf coins of varying sizes to meet any consumer's preferences or price level. This includes the 2017 1/4 oz Gold Maple Leaf coin, which contains a quarter-ounce (0.25 troy oz) of pure gold content. As legal tender, these coins are given a face value of 10 Dollars.
The maple leaf image created by RCM artist Walter Ott is found on the reverse design. The leaf is rendered with detailed ridges and veins. The issuing nation "CANADA" curls along the top rim. The fineness is indicated by "9999" on either side of the maple leaf, with "FINE GOLD 1/4 OZ OR PUR" inscribed around the bottom half of the rim.
HM Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse, as depicted by artist Susanna Blunt. Her Majesty's name is found at the top rim, while the denomination "10 DOLLARS" and the year of issue "2017" appear at the bottom rim. Both sides use a captivating radial line finish that enhances the coin's security as well as its beauty.
