Details & Specifications

The popular legend of Robin Hood, the medieval English vigilante who "stole from the rich and gave to the poor," is one of the most widely recognized tales in Western culture. It has been told since at least the 16th century, perhaps dating back as far as the 13th century, and has been recast into countless films and cartoons. Now, this famous story had made it way onto silver bullion with the Robin Hood 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round (Antique Finish)! Each round boasts an impressive Ultra High Relief detail definition and an attractive Antique Finish. They are struck from .999 fine silver for a total of 2 troy ounces of pure silver content.

The front side of the round shows a lifelike Robin Hood lining up his bow and arrow, prepared to shoot. His hood is down as he aims toward the right. A castle appears in the background. Every detail of the design, from the folds in Robin Hood's cloak to the various items (such as a sword, a dagger, and a quiver of arrows) that accompany the hero, are literally popping off the surface of the round thanks to the Ultra High Relief effect. The inscription "Robin Hood" is place to the right in a classical medieval font.

The design on the back depicts Robin Hood genuflecting as he holds the hand of Maiden Marian, who he is being wed to. A figure resembling King Richard the Lionheart presides over the ceremony, reading from an open book. The king is flanked by heraldic shields and torches on both the left and right. At the bottom rim, the inscription ".999 FINE SILVER" is created by an incuse technique. The antiqued finish also gives it a fitting historical atmosphere. The edge is reeded.

Robin Hood is celebrated for stealing money (gold and silver) from the wealthy and instead giving it to the needy peasants during a time of unfathomable inequality. Most historians regard the story as a myth, although it may represent a mixing of several different historical accounts into a single character. You can add these impressive works of bullion artwork to your collection with the Robin Hood 2 oz Ultra High Relief Silver Round - With Antique Finish from Gainesville Coins today!

ultra high relief!
There have been lots of these high reliefs coming onto the market recently but this Robin Hood is by far my favorite. The antique finish really makes the images pop. It would be great if Gainesville Coins continues with their high relief offerings.
