Mint News Blog hits us up with the info for those of you going to the ANA World's Fair of Money in Chicago, looking to get a proof gold Kennedy half dollar before they go on sale at the U.S. Mint.
The Mint announced that they will sell 500 of the coins a day, for 2500 coins total. To avoid the absolute bedlam that resulted last year with the release of the 2013 reverse proof Gold Buffalo, U.S. Mint employees will be handing out 250 tickets before the show to those waiting in a special line. Those 250 people will be let in through a side door that opens right next to the U.S. Mint booth, in order to purchase their coins. Here's the rundown:
- Limit of two coins per person
- 18 years old or older
- Must have a ticket from the U.S. Mint in order to buy
- No "saving someone's place" in line
- Must have already purchased a ticket to the coin show, and have your credentials
