Corporate promotional give-aways and trade show items have been around forever, but they took an interesting turn beginning in the 1970s. With the removal of silver coinage from circulation and the ensuing public interest in silver, companies started commissioning silver art bars as promotional items. Managers and executives were far more likely to keep these items on their desk than coffee cups or other items, keeping the company brand in their mind. Today they hold interest as classic mementos of companies and times gone by.
