2019 Perth Mint Silver Coins

Two of the world’s hottest annual semi-numismatic silver coin series are the the Silver Lunar series and Silver Kookaburra coins from the Perth Mint. With mintage limits of 300,000 for the 1 oz Silver Lunar coin, and 500,000 for the 1 oz Silver Kookaburra, these particular coins sell-out rather quickly every year due to continually strong collector demand.

Another big hit every year is the Silver Koala coins. These argent representations of Australia's cuddliest marsupial have an enthusiastic following of their own, and have no mintage limit year to year. Each of these silver coin series will be back again for 2019, giving coin collectors an attractive precious metal option while also appealing to bullion investors looking for artistic flair in their investment.

2019 Silver Kookaburra Coins

The Kookaburra series from the Perth Mint celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2015. For the 2018 issue, another brand new reverse design gives us a glimpse at the distinctive kookaburra, a bird that has long served as one of Australia's national symbols, as well as highlighting the Aussie landscape. The Perth Mint points out that the adorable kookaburra (or "kook") is virtually synonymous with Australian bush.

Design Of 2018 Silver Kookaburra

The reverse design of the Silver Kookaburra coin features the bird known for its childlike laughter, the kookaburra, flying through the evening sky in front of a detailed view of the full moon. The coin’s obverse uses an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by acclaimed British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley.

2018 Silver Lunar Coins

This year’s Silver Lunar coins commemorate the Year of the Dog in the Chinese Lunar calendar, with a design showing a German shepherd laying down in a grassy scene next to a puppy of the same breed. The Chinese symbol for "Dog" hovers above the canines near the top of the field. The last time the Year of the Dog occurred was in 2006, and it won’t return in the Lunar cycle until 2030.

2018 Silver Koala Coins

This year, the beloved Silver Koala series depicts a koala sitting on the branch of a eucalyptus tree. The koala faces left with a calm demeanor on its face, and its fur is rendered in great detail, down to its minute texture. The coins contain the same .999 fine silver as previous years, and feature Ian Rank-Broadley’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
