Australian Perth Mint Lunar Series Gold Coins

The Perth Mint's Gold Lunar Series began in 1996 with the Year of the Rat. The series is based on the 12 year Chinese Lunar Calendar which dates back to before 2600 B.C. These gold bullion coins are .9999 pure gold, and have become very popular with both investors and collectors. Originally, the Perth Mint Gold Lunar Series only included 1 oz coins. Over time, the mint added more sizes, including 10 Kilo, 1 kilo, 10 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz. Mintages for the 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz, and 1/20 oz lunar series gold coins are limited. The Perth Mint's Lunar Series 1 ended in with the Year of the Pig in 2007. Since then, Perth Mint's Lunar Series have been labeled as "Series 2." Perth Mint Lunar Series gold coins are eligible for precious metal IRAs.
