Koala Fun Facts
The koala is a marsupial native to Australia. The Koala’s closest living relative is the wombat. The koala diet is nearly exclusive to eucalyptus leaves. The koala has a very slow digestive system, and rests motionless for much of the day. The Koala population has been hard pressed, and the Koala faced extinction in the early 20th century due to hunting for the Koala’s pelt. Koala numbers remain dangerously low due to habitat loss, disease and urbanization.
