The Royal Canadian Mint made this 1964 80% silver Canadian Dollar to commemorate the Centennial Anniversary of the negotiations in Charlottetown. This coin holds a legal tender status in Canada that boasts a face value of $1. These coins have a fine metal content is 0.60 troy oz pure silver.

The obverse features the bust of Queen Elizabeth the second with the words, "Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina," which translates, "By the Grace of God, Queen," encircling her. On the reverse, in the middle is a circle with a rose, shamrock, thistle, and fleur-de-lis. The words, "Charlottetown, Quebec," circle the center along with the date, "1864," flanking the left and right side of the coin. The top and bottom of the read, "Canada," and, "Dollar."

In the 1860's Great Britain controlled the largest empire ever known. In an attempt to bring about economical stability and address political affairs in all of their world-wide colonies, the negotiations in Charlottetown started. The negotiations were a series of meetings that resulted in Great Britain's individual colonies coming together to create a single alliance.

I ordered a few of these and they arrived very quickly. They were actually in better condition than I thought they would be, so I could see the design more clearly, which was a very pleasant surprise.
