The 1967 Canadian Silver Half Dollar Howling Wolf was part of a commemorative series celebrating the 100th anniversary of Canada. The half dollar was part of a set of seven coins. Each coin has an actual silver weight of .30 troy ounces and is 80% fine silver. They are 29.7 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick.

The set was designed by Alex Colville and features Canadian wildlife. This .50 cent piece portrays the Canadian wolf with its head thrown back in a howling pose on the reverse of the coin. The denomination "50 Cents" appears at the top while 1867-1967 appears at the bottom. The obverse of the coin has a picture of Queen Elizabeth II facing to the right. Along the left rim is her name "Elizabeth II" and along the right rim is the Latin phrase "D-G-Regina."

These 1967 Canadian Silver Half Dollars were minted by the Royal Canadian Mint. While the set was minted to honor the 100th anniversary, the series was actually circulating coinage. The coins were only minted for a year and then the half dollar design returned to its current appearance.
