Buy 1968 Mexican Silver 25 Pesos Olympics Coin (.5209 oz of silver)

These commemorative Mexican 1968 Mexico City Olympics 25 Pesos Silver Coin are made of .720 fine silver, containing a total 0.5209 ounces of fine silver.

The obverse features the Coat of Arms of Mexico, with the image of a golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus while devouring a rattlesnake. The face value of 25 Pesos is to the left of the eagle, and the purity, “Ley .720,” and the Mexico City mint mark are to the right.

The reverse of the coin has an image of a native Mesoamerican in costume, playing the ancient “rubber ball game,” ollamaliztli, with the outline of the I-shaped court behind him. The Olympic rings appear below him, and the legend, “Juegos De La XIX Olympiada Mexico 1968,” runs along the top border of the coin.

Minted by Casa de Moneda de Mexico, which means "House of the Mexican Money," the Mexico City 25 Silver Peso was designed to celebrate the 1968 Summer Olympics. The Mexico City Olympic Games were the very first to be held in Latin America, as well as in a Spanish-speaking country. Despite the fact that the 1968 Olympics were part of the Summer games, the event actually took place in October due to the Mexican Student Movement of 1968.

Add a piece of the Olympic Games history to your collection today with this Mexico City Olympics Silver 25 Peso commemorative coin.

Best Dealer Around

I always buy coins online from Gainesville Coins. I've never had a problem ordering from them and don't think I ever will. This coin came especially fast. It was packaged well and the coin was actually in good condition despite its age.

Great coins to own
Monday, January 13, 2014
I Always do as much research as possible and am particular about most of what I buy, I want a return on my money. I read the previous comment about "gritty coin" and would not expect much more for MEXICAN 1968 coins. WOW was I surprised. I bought 50 of these and some looked like they were minted yesterday, one was pretty gritty, but still very legible (just had to look through the grit :). I am VERY PLEASED with these coins and Gainesville Coins. GC more than not has the best price and have not been disappointed yet. Thanks to all at GC.

Crazy Design
Monday, December 30, 2013
This coin is crazy looking and you probably won't find many others like it. My sister got it for me for Christmas and I really like it. She isn't into numismatics like I am, but she said she had a good experience buying from Gainesville Coins. She said the website was really simple and helpful and that the coin arrived really quickly. I wasn't surprised, since I've ordered from this website before, but I was glad to here that even people who don't collect coins can navigate the process easily.

Love Mexican Coins
Friday, December 20, 2013
I love Mexican coins because they feature unique designs that not everyone has in their collection. This is no exception, the reverse design of this coin draws the eye and reflect Mexican history and culture. The coin I got wasn't in the best condition, but I actually prefer a coin with some grit to it.
