The 1/2 oz Silver New Zealand $1 Fiji Taku has become highly popular since its introduction in 2010 for its stunning design and highly polished finish. This is the first year the coin is available in the half ounce size. Struck in .999 pure silver, it has come to be the primary silver coin produced by the New Zealand Mint.
This coin comes in brand new Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
Pictured on the obverse of the coin is the Hawksbill Turtle, commonly known as the Taku. The animal is seen swimming, surrounded by bubbles, with the background textured to look like water. Its stylized shell and the rounded portion to its left are polished to a mirror-like finish.
On the reverse of the coin is the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, used since the coin's initial inception. Her Majesty is encircled by her name, the country, its $1 denomination and the year.
