The 1998 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coin, with an NGC grading of MS-69, revives one of the most popular images to have ever appeared on US coinage, the “Walking Liberty.” Minted only from US-mined silver, the Silver Eagle contains 1 troy ounce of .999 silver, with its purity and weight guaranteed by the United States government.

Obverse

First seen on coins in 1916, the Silver Eagle bears the unforgettable Walking Liberty design by Adolf A. Weinman. The design showcases a graceful Liberty striding towards a rising sun, representative of the dawn of a new day. The legend "Liberty" is inter-spaced along the top rim while "In God We Trust" is inscribed on the bottom right of the coin. The mintage year is printed below the striding Liberty.

Reverse

Created by John M Mercanti, the US Mint engraver portrays a heraldic eagle guarded by a shield. Inspired by the Presidential Seal, it depicts an eagle with its wings outstretched and its beak clutching the "E PLURIBUS UNUM" banner. It also carries the weight, denomination, and country of origin.
