The 2013 1/10 oz Gold South African Krugerrand features one of the most recognized designs in modern gold bullion coinage. Following the huge success of the 1 oz gold Krugerrand, the 1/10 oz variant was introduced in 1980. The 1/10 oz Krugerrands are minted from .9167 fine gold and contain 1/10 troy ounces of pure gold. They have a diameter of 16.55mm and a thickness of 1.35mm.
The obverse of this highly popular 1/10 oz gold coin shares the design with its 1 oz counterpart. A large and highly detailed left-facing portrait of Paul Kruger adorns most of the obverse. Along the top of the rim are the words "Suid-Afrika" to the left and "South Africa" to the right.
The reverse features a springbok antelope-gazelle prancing along the African plain. Along the top of the rim is the legend "1/10 Krugarrand". Along the bottom are both the weight "1/10 oz" and precious metal type "fine gold". The date, "2013", is split between the springbok.
