The obverse features a left facing portrait of Simon Bolivar with the inscriptions "Boliviar" and "Libertador" around the rim of the coin. The reverse shows Venezuela's coat of arms in the center with the name of the country "Republica de Venezuela", and its' face value "Un Bolivar" struck around the rim of the coin; along with the year the coin was struck (1960), the coins silver weight (5 grams) and its fineness (.835).
The Silver Venezuela Bolivar was first issued in 1879, but has been recently revalued to help make transactions and accounting easier.
