The Dutch guilder (or gulden) endured as the Netherlands currency from the 17th century until 2002 when the euro took its place. Gainesville Coins is offering this special 1970 Netherlands 10 Gulden Silver Coin that commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the Netherlands Liberation Day. The day is celebrated annually on May 5th, which marks the end of the World War II and the occupation of Nazi Germany in the Netherlands. The silver coin contains .5787 troy ounces of 0.72 fine silver.
On the obverse you will see a simple effigy of the former Queen of the Netherlands, Juliana Wilhelmina. She is encircled by legends, “JULIANA KONINGIN DER NEDERLANDEN.”
The reverse shows an older looking Queen with this lettering, “NEDERLAND HERRIJST 1945 10 G 1970.” The coin may show some imperfections from previous use of circulation overall.
A historical coin to add to your collection!
