These German Imperial 1/2 Mark Silver Coins were struck from 1905 to 1919, the year the German Empire collapsed. Made from .900 fine silver, they have an Actual Silver Weight of .0801 troy ounces.
The obverse features the denomination surrounded by a wreath with the date below and "DEUTSCHES REICH," or German Empire, above.
The reverse depicts the crowned imperial eagle 'displayed' with wings stretched and facing left. A shield is on the eagles breast and a wreath surrounds the image.
The rim is decorated by raised dots on both the obverse and reverse.
The German 1/2 mark ceased to exist as a distinct denomination after this coin was discontinued in 1919, being replaced by the 50 pfennig denomination.
