Known as the Friendly Islands to Captain James Cook, the Kingdom of Tonga is an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean that consists of about 176 islands. Celebrate the Kingdom of Tonga with this fine 3-Coin Palladium Set (3.529 APW), which commemorates Taufa'ahau Tupou's coronation that took place on July 4th, 1967.
This beautiful set includes three palladium coins with these various “hau” sizes: 1 oz, ½ oz and ¼ oz. Denominations include 25, 50 and 100 pa'anga (Tongan currency). There have only been 1,500 of these set minted!
Each coin's reverse features Tonga's Coat of Arms in the center, including each one's marked size. All obverses display King Tupou's noble looking right-sided effigy. He is encircled by his name and the coronation date of “4th July 1967.”
This brilliant set comes in a blue display case that features Tonga's seal. Reads, “FIRST PALLADIUM COINAGE IN HISTORY.” May show some imperfections from use and/or storage overall.
