Celebrate our nations heritage of freedom with this unique set now available at Gainesville Coin. This special Constitution 2 Coin Gold and Silver Set was released in 1987 by the US mint. It was issued to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the US constitution. It includes a $5 proof gold coin and a $1 proof silver coin together in a protective display case along with a it's certificate of authenticity.
The obverse of the gold coin features a magnificent rendition of a bald eagle with the coin's date at the bottom and the phrase “In God We Trust” struck above the eagle. Encircling it is the phrase “Liberty.” The reverse features a quill pin like the one popularly used to depict the founding fathers signing the constitution. Inscribed across it is the phrase “We the People,” celebrating the populist values of the United States. Encircling the quill is the name of the country, United States of America” and “Bicentennial of the Constitution.” It also contains the face value of the coin (five dollars), the motto “E Pluribus Unum” and the historic date September 17, 1787. The coin is 90% gold and weighs 8.359 grams.
The silver coin is equally beautiful, is 90% silver, and weighs 26.7300 grams. Minted on the reverse is a collection of historic American figures and its' face value (one dollar). The name of the country and the phrase “E Pluribus Unum” encircle the figures. The design on the silver dollar's obverse displays a rendition of the US Constitution and a quill.
