Silver is a popular way to accumulate precious metals these days. Gainesville Coins is pleased to offer these collectible antique 1 Florin Silver Coins with Random Dates. Austrian coins were inspired from Florence, Italy's “florin,” which was used post-1867 (forints were used on the Hungarian side). Italian florins were struck from 1252 to 1533 and generally featured the same design throughout that time. Each of these florins contain 0.3571 troy ounces of .9000 fine silver.
On the obverse is the effigy of Franz Joseph I, the King of Hungary. He wears a fashionable garland around his head. Franz Joseph maintained dual leadership as Emperor of Austria and as Apostolic King of Hungary from 1848 until his death in 1916. Joseph also served as President of the German Confederation during that time from 1850 to 1866. The outer rim is inscribed with his name, including “AVSTRIAE IMPERATOR.”
The reverse features Austria's coat of arms with emblematic eagle holding a sword and orb in its feet. The rim is inscribed with Austrian legends and date, plus the face value of 1 FL.
Please note that the date you receive will depend upon what is available in our inventory.
