Especially since the 1980s, private mints in the United States have been active in the production of round silver bullion pieces (silver rounds) that bear iconic American coin designs. The appeal of these .999 fine (99.9% pure) silver rounds reaches beyond regular coin collectors, giving silver investors an attractive way to buy silver bullion without paying the premium associated with legal tender coins. With these 1/4 oz Walking Liberty Silver Rounds, you can add a quarter-ounce (0.25 troy oz) of pure silver to your holdings at competitive pricing from Gainesville Coins!
The front side of the round recreates the Walking Liberty motif originally designed by Adolph Weinman. A capped Lady Liberty confidently strides to her left wearing a dress with the pattern of the American flag. Her right arm is outstretched, beckoning toward the rising sun in the bottom-left of the design, while she carries oak and laurel branches in her other arm. The word "LIBERTY" is inscribed around the outer rim in large lettering, with the smaller "IN GOD WE TRUST" placed to the right of Miss Liberty.
The back side of the round is also adapted from an actual coin design, this one created by John Mercanti for the American Silver Eagle. A bald eagle is shown at the center of the image, wings spread. Thirteen stars are placed above the eagle's head, while a ribbon clasped in its beak reads, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." It holds an olive branch and a bundle of arrows in its two talons. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed across the top half of the rim, while the weight and purity specifications, "1/4 TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER," are found at the bottom rim. An unsupported shield in front of the eagle's breast is stamped with the word "COPY," a legal requirement of all coin replicas that are not legal tender.
If you're interested in buying .999 pure silver without paying extra for the legal tender status of silver coins, it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice appearance and quality! With 1/4 oz Walking Liberty silver rounds, you can enjoy the same beauty and symbolism that we love about classic coin designs in the form of these affordable, 1/4-troy-ounce silver rounds.
Please note: This round is not an official government issue, but still contains 1/4 oz of .999 Fine Silver.
