There are an endless number of different card games built around the modern deck of playing cards with four different suits--Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs, and Spades--and nearly every single game uses the Ace as the high card in addition to carrying a value of 1. This universal theme inspired the limited-edition 2015 Four-of-a-Kind Four Aces 4-coin silver proof set, exclusively available at Gainesville Coins! Struck by the Mayer Mint and issued by Treasures of Oz on behalf of the Pacific island nation of Tokelau, each rectangular-shaped coin is struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. (Thus, the entire set contains 4 troy oz of fine silver content.) In addition to being legal tender of Tokelau with a face value of 1 Dollar, these 4-coin sets are limited to a worldwide mintage of just 500! Your order includes the coins' original packaging, display box, and certificate of authenticity (COA).
The reverse designs feature stylized versions of the traditional playing card suits. Each coin measures 27 mm by 47 mm, mimicking the shape of an actual playing card. The suit symbols are intricately interlaid with attractive floral patterns. A portion of each symbol--clover (Clubs), diamond, heart, and spade--has its traditional red or black coloration, while the relief devices are frosted. Like a playing card, the "A" for Ace and a smaller suit emblem are placed in two diagonal corners of the coin's rim, which is raised for easy stacking.
The obverse is graced by Ian Rank-Broadley's right-facing portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, with the ruler's name curling upward just below. An ornate floral insignia is placed at the center of the design below, with the issuing nation "TOKELAU" struck boldly below. In smaller typeface, the year-date "2015" and the technical specifications "1oz 999 Silver" are inscribed near the bottom rim below. The denomination "ONE DOLLAR" stretches across the top rim, while the fields exhibit the highly reflective proof finish.
The traditional four-suit playing card deck has been in popular use since at least the Middle Ages, with each suit representing a distinct class within medieval society: Clubs symbolized herding and husbandry; Hearts symbolized the Church; Diamonds symbolized archers from the peasantry; and Spades symbolized the knights. Across all suits, the Ace is always the prominent card, and the surest indicator of good fortune. With a miniscule limited mintage of just 500, these 2015 Tokelau Four Aces 1 oz Proof Silver 4-coin set are the perfect collectible for any gaming enthusiast, and they're exclusively distributed by Gainesville Coins!
