More than perhaps any other modern bullion coin, the American Gold Eagle represents trust and stability in the form of 22-karat gold. The 2017 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Coin - BU continues this tradition of financial security with a Brilliant Uncirculated finish. Each coin is struck from .917 fine gold and contains a total of one-quarter troy ounce (0.25 troy oz) of pure gold. As legal tender, these coins bear a face value of 10 Dollars.
On the obverse, the design is a modern take on the classic Augustus Saint-Gaudens image of Lady Liberty that originally appeared on the $20 Gold Double Eagle coin from 1907 to 1933. Miss Liberty carries a torch and an olive branch as she marches forward triumphantly. The Capitol building can be seen in the distance as bright sun rays emerge over the horizon. "LIBERTY" is inscribed at the top rim while 50 stars fill the outer rim. The year-date "2017" appears to the right.
The reverse design is graced by Miley Busiek's original artwork of a family of bald eagles. The father eagle returns to his nest, with the mother eagle and two eaglets snuggled together, carrying an olive branch. The issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" runs along the top rim. The coin's weight and legal tender denomination are inscribed at the bottom rim, "1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD~10 DOLLARS." The edge is reeded.
Gold Eagles are a favorite among investors because of their 1/4 troy ounce of actual gold weight (AGW) as well as their design elements that symbolize American values. These 1/4 oz American Gold Eagles (BU) offer a fractional way to buy gold without sacrificing the reliability of the Gold Eagle. You can purchase yours online anytime at GainesvilleCoins.com!
