New revelations show that an extremely low amount -- less than 80,000 -- American Silver Eagles were struck by the Philadelphia Mint (rather than the West Point facility) in 2015. You can now add a PCGS-certified coin from this minuscule mintage to your collection with a 2015-(P) Silver Eagle graded as MS70, the highest grade possible!
Each coin is given a legal tender denomination of 1 Dollar. They are each struck from .999 fine silver for a total of 1 troy ounce of fine silver content.
On the obverse, A.A. Weinman's classic design of Lady Liberty graces the coin design. Miss Liberty is walking to the left with her arm outstretched as the sun rises in front of her. The legend "LIBERTY" is found across the top rim while "IN GOD WE TRUST" is to Miss Liberty's right.
John Mercanti's design of a heraldic eagle appears on the reverse. Wings spread, the eagle carries arrows and an olive branch in its talons. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" runs along the top rim, while the bottom rim reads "1 OZ. FINE SILVER~ONE DOLLAR," indicating the coin's silver weight and face value.
Not only is the rarity of the 2015 P American Silver Eagle issue now established, but PCGS has authenticated these coins as coming from that select group of coins! Additionally, the coin comes encapsulated in PCGS's hard plastic holder to ensure it remains in flawless condition.
