On the reverse (back) of the coin, an original new design shows two labrador puppies looking upward toward the sky. In the background, a serene environment of mountains, cliffs, and clouds is visible. The year-date "2018" curls along the top rim while the Chinese character for the Lunar "Dog" is prominently placed to the top-left. The weight and purity "1/10oz .9999 Au" is inscribed at the bottom rim.
The obverse is graced by an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II facing right. Inscriptions surrounding the Queen include "ELIZABETH II," the issuing country "AUSTRALIA," and the denomination "15 DOLLARS." An outer ring around the potrait shows each of the twelve animal signs of the Chinese zodiac, in sequential order, with a corresponding phase of the moon. The edge is reeded.
