The American Silver Eagle is the official .999 fine silver bullion coin of the United States Mint. It is a favorite choice for many collectors and bullion investors all around the world. This 2018 American Silver Eagle PCGS MS69 First Strike has not only been graded MS69, only one point away from a perfect 70, but it also received the "First Strike" designation from PCGS! This means the coin was received for grading within 30 days of leaving the mint. As legal tender, each Silver Eagle bears a face value of 1 Dollar. Each contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver.
On the obverse, an enhanced version of the 1916 "Walking Liberty" design engraved by A.A. Weinman is shown. Lady Liberty is shown striding toward the rising sun while she carries a branch of an oak tree. Her dress bears the stars and stripes of the American flag. The legend "LIBERTY" runs along the top rim while "IN GOD WE TRUST" is placed to Miss Liberty's right. The year-date "2018" is found at the bottom rim. The edge is reeded.
The reverse, created by former Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint John Mercanti, shows a bald eagle in a heraldic pose with its wings spread. The issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed at the top rim and thirteen stars appear above the eagle's head. It holds arrows and an olive branch in its talons and carries a banner reading "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak. The bottom rim bears the inscriptions 1 OZ. FINE SILVER" and the denomination "ONE DOLLAR."
Silver Eagles are recognized and trusted all over the world, not just in the United States.
