Details & Specifications

There is perhaps no more trusted modern silver coin in the world than the American Silver Eagle. Its 1 troy ounce of pure silver by weight is backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, and the coin is traded all over the world. Silver Eagle collectors will be thrilled with this 2018 American Silver Eagle (NGC MS69 First Day of Issue). The coin has been certified MS69 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), just one point shy of the highest grade possible. It was also graded the first day that this year's coins were available from the mint!

The obverse bears the classic Walking Liberty design that first appeared on an American coin in 1916. Before the Silver Eagle, its last use was in 1947. With the rising sun to her left, Lady Liberty beckons with one outstretched arm and holds an oak branch with the other arm. She wears a billowing dress that resembles Old Glory as she marches triumphantly forward. The legend "LIBERTY" curls along the rim above and the national motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" sits in the bottom-right of the design. The year of issue "2018" is placed at the bottom rim.

The reverse, designed by the renowned engraver John Mercanti, shows a heraldic eagle. The eagle's wings are spread and it holds an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other. A ribbon held in its beak reads "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and thirteen stars hang overhead. An unsupported Union shield protects it. The specifications "1 OZ. FINE SILVER" are inscribed with the denomination "ONE DOLLAR" at the bottom rim. The issuing government "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" is inscribed along the top rim.

Silver Eagles have been among the most trusted sources of silver bullion since the series began in 1986, but they also have a dedicated following of coin collectors. This 2018 American Silver Eagle NGC MS69 (First Day of Issue) is an excellent choice for any numismatic enthusiast or investor!
