The international community and the American public have embraced the .917 fine (22-karat) American Gold Eagle as one of the most popular gold coins in the world. Coin collectors will be thrilled with this 2018 $10 American Gold Eagle certified MS70 First Day of Issue by NGC! This means the coin was graded on the first day that the 2018-date coins were issued by the U.S. Mint, and MS70 represents the highest possible grade! The coin has a $10 face value and contains one-quarter troy oz (0.25 troy ounce) of pure gold.
On the obverse, the Saint-Gaudens design of Lady Liberty that originally appeared in 1907 is used. Miss Liberty is shown ascending to the top of a hill while carrying a lit torch above her head. The U.S. Capitol appears off in the distance. The background is filled with radiant sunlight coming over the horizon. "2018" is inscribed to the right of Lady Liberty and the legend "LIBERTY" is placed at the top rim. 50 stars line the perimeter of the coin. The edge is reeded.
The reverse bears Miley Busiek's design of a family of bald eagles. Four eagles are depicted: a mother with her two eaglets in their nest and a father eagle bringing an olive branch as he prepares to land. The weight and denomination are denoted at the bottom rim, reading "1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD~10 DOLLARS." The national mottoes "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" flank the eagle family while the issuing country "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" appears across the top rim.
Only a select number of coins submitted to NGC met the requirements for "First Day of Issue," and only a portion of those received the highest possible grade of MS70. Make this exceptional 2018 $10 American Gold Eagle NGC MS70 (First Day of Issue) part of your collection today!
