One of the most collectible coins in American history is the Morgan silver dollar. This $1 coin was minted between 1878 and 1921, but its collectible appeal really skyrocketed in the second half of the 20th century.
In terms of fine silver content, each Morgan dollar is .900 fine silver and contains 0.7734 troy ounce of pure silver by weight.
This Morgan Silver Dollar NGC / PCGS MS63 (Random Date) has been professionally graded by the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) or Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), receiving the mint-state grade of MS63!
The famous design was created by former mint engraver (and later Chief Engraver) George Morgan. The obverse shows Lady Liberty facing left. The year of issue is found at the bottom rim while stars and the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" fill the rest of the rim.
The reverse shows a bald eagle in a heraldic pose, wings spread. It holds an olive branch in one talon and a bundle of arrows in the other. "IN GOD WE TRUST" is inscribed above the eagle's head, and the denomination "ONE DOLLAR" is placed at the bottom rim. The edge design is reeded.
