Australian Perth Mint Gold & Silver Coins

The Australian Perth Mint, Australia’s oldest operating manufacturer of silver, platinum and gold coins, opened its doors in 1899 in response to the discovery of gold deposits in Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie. Considered the founding father of the Perth Mint, Sir John Forrest a.k.a. “Big John” foresaw the importance these gold deposits would have on the Australian economy.

By 1957, the Perth Mint had achieved what is considered the “purest gold of all gold” in a proof plate of 999.999 parts of gold per thousand. In 2000, the Mint, located in the state of Western Australia, produced 4,500 tonnes of refined gold – a staggering 3.25% of the total gold produced in human history.

Because of Australia’s healthy economy and stable government, and also the high quality bullion coins they produce, Perth Mint coins are in high demand - increasing annually at about 15% for the last 40 years. They have proven time-and-time again to be one of the most profitable types of precious metal investment, especially because of their proximity to the Asian markets.

Coins from the Perth Mint are a valuable addition to any portfolio, as Western Australia is one of Australia’s most affluent states, and the Mint has an unwavering reputation for being innovative and protecting its investors. The Mint’s popular releases include the Year of the Tiger, Gold Kangaroo, Silver Koala, and Silver Kookaburra bullion coins, and attract everyone from rare coin collectors to serious investors worldwide.
