The Gold Mexican 2 1/2 Pesos were minted from 1918 until 1948 and have an actual gold weight (AGW) of 0.0603 troy oz. These coins were printed by the Banco de Mexico. Each coin is 15.5 mm in diameter and 0.9 mm thick.
The 2 1/2 peso coin depicts a portrait of the Mexican patriot Miguel Hidalgo on the reverse of the coin. The denomination "Dos Y Medio Pesos" and the year of issuance are underneath the bust. The obverse shows the Mexican coat of arms, a golden eagle perched on top of a cactus, eating a snake. Across the top of the coin are the words "Estados Unidos Mexicanos."
