Gold Eagles have become the most popular gold bullion coins on the international markets. The largest size in the coin series is the 1 ounce Gold American Eagle.

Introduced back in 1986, this coin has a legal tender face value of $50. It's backed by the full faith and credit of the United States government.

The 2020 1 oz American Gold Eagle (BU) is struck from .917 fine (22-karat) gold. It contains a total of 1 troy oz of pure gold by weight.

Lady Liberty is shown carrying a burning torch on the obverse. This design actually dates back to 1907, originally appearing on the Saint-Gaudens $20 double eagle coin. Fifty stars encircle the design, representing the 50 states in the Union. The legend "LIBERTY" is inscribed at the top rim. The year of issue "2020" is found to the right of Lady Liberty. At the bottom-left corner of the design, the Capitol building can be seen in the distance.

The reverse design uses Miley Busiek's family of eagles theme. Four bald eagles are depicted: the mother eagle is perched in a nest with her two young eaglets. The father eagle returns carrying an olive branch in his talons. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" appears along the top rim, referring to the issuing country. On either side of the eagles, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are inscribed. The bottom rim includes the inscriptions "1 OZ. FINE GOLD~50 DOLLARS" for the weight and denomination.

The coin has a Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) finish and its edge design is reeded.
