Like many of our unique silver round designs, Gainesville Coins offers two versions -- one in brilliant uncirculated (BU), and one with a hand-applied antique finish.
The antique finish on the Pilgrim silver round shows the intricate detail of the design to great effect. From the whiskers of the beard of Pilgrim man, to the three dimensional effects of the shadowy woods in the background, the features of this coin "pop" in a way a normal BU round can't. The finish also emphasizes the highlights and shadows of the realistically sculpted busts of the Pilgrim settlers and the Native American warrior.
The obverse of the antique finish Pilgrim high relief silver round features the faces of three types of famous explorers: a Pilgrim, a frontiersman, and an astronaut. Each bust has an appropriate background: an early sailing ship for the Pilgrim, a dugout canoe on a wilderness river for the frontiersman, and the solar system for the astronaut.
