French Silver Coins

French coins have a long and intriguing history. The first French coins were produced by the Monnaie de Paris (the Paris Mint) in the ninth century. Prior to 2002, circulated silver coins produced by the Paris Mint were primarily Francs of varying denominations.Today, the Paris Mint produces a variety of Euro-based commemorative silver coins, as well as the coinage used by the general population.
