Buy 2018 South Korea 1 oz Silver 1 Clay Chiwoo Cheonwang - BU

Gainesville Coins is proud to offer the third release in the popular Chiwoo Cheonwang Series, the 2018 South Korea Chiwoo Cheonwang 1 oz Silver!

These silver bullion medallions are issued by the Republic of Korea (South Korea) with a symbolic denomination of 1 Clay. They are struck by the country's state mint, KOMSCO, from .999 fine silver. Each piece contains 1 troy ounce of pure silver by weight.

The 2018 Silver Chiwoo has an official mintage of 45,000 will come packaged in tubes of 25 pieces and boxes of 250 pieces

Chiwoo is the mythical God of War that serves as the mascot for fans of the Korean national soccer team, who are nicknamed the "Red Devils."

The reverse design depicts an extremely lifelike portrayal of Chiwoo Cheonwang riding horseback with his sword pointed directly at the viewer -- the last thing an enemy would see before being vanquished. He wears intricate armor, a helmet with two horns, and has a menacing grin on his face. The legend "CHIWOO CHEONWANG" is inscribed along the rim to the right.

The obverse shows an image of "Do ggae bi," a supernatural being that is said to protect people from evil spirits in the tradition of Korean mythology. Rim inscriptions (from left to right) include the year-date "2018" and the purity "FINE SILVER 999" to the left, the issuing country "REPUBLIC OF KOREA" at the top rim, and the denomination "1 CLAY" to the right.

This side of the medallion also uses a cutting edge anti-counterfeiting technique known as latent image technology. "999" appears faintly in a circle beneath the main image. The KOMSCO logo appears below. The diameter measure 40 mm across.

The Korean Mint (KOMSCO) is quickly gaining a reputation for advancing new anti-counterfeiting technology, providing collectors and investors with greater security for their silver bullion. The annually updated designs have drawn many collectors from around the world to the Chiwoo series.
