The obverse design uses a larger, modernized version of Adolph Weinman's original Walking Liberty design from the half dollar, circa 1916. It shows Lady Liberty confidently striding to her left, toward the sun rising over the horizon. She wears a dress styled in the stars and stripes of the U.S. flag. "LIBERTY" is prominently inscribed along the top rim, while the year-date "2020" and the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" are placed near the bottom of the design.

Former United States Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti's heraldic eagle design graces the reverse. Patterned after the Great Seal of the United States, the bald eagle is shown holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons. Its wings are spread. Thirteen stars hover above the eagle's head. The bottom rim includes the inscriptions "1 OZ. FINE SILVER~ONE DOLLAR" to indicate the weight, composition, and denomination. The edge of the coin uses a reeded design. You won't find a mint mark on the bullion Silver Eagles (Uncirculated Silver Eagles), but on proofs it appears on the bottom-left of the reverse.
