The 1934 Buffalo nickel was the first nickel struck at the Philadelphia Mint since 1930. The hiatus had collectors primed to set aside rolls of 1934 nickels as soon as they were released. As a result, Mint State 1934 Buffalo nickels are more scarce than they are rare.
