Alaska Sales Tax for Precious Metals
Alaska currently collects no state sales tax. However, some local jurisdictions within the state do collect taxes.
Effective 8/28/26, the State of Alaska adopted legislation that requires exemption on the sale of specie (gold and silver that is legal tender or in the form of a coin or bullion that is stamped an imprinted with its weight and purity). Exemption only applies to the actual value of the gold or silver in specie being sold, meaning any portion of the selling price that exceeds to value of the specie is considered taxable. (see
